Incorporating Art and Business with Tanya Momi
by: Helena D'Mellow
What do you do when someone advises you to follow your passion? If you are Tanya Singh, owner of Spoil Me Salon in Mountain View, CA, you incorporate your love of painting into your business and open a gallery within your salon. Momi, long time YBN member, also has a passion for art. Her work is recognized throughout her community and has won her prizes, praise and accolades.
Recently, Momi held the Spoil Me Art Bash, a solo exhibition of Tanya Momi’s artwork. In addition, her work was included in a high profiled, celebrity filled event, where SWFF-Hollywood showcased Sikh Art and Film held at the Writer's Guild Theater in Beverly Hills.
Art has been always been a part of Momi’s life. “From the first time I picked up a paintbrush, I knew that art would always be a part of my life. Growing up in a war-ravaged part of India, painting became my one escape from the cruel world around me.”
The demands of life, unfortunately, forced her to put her passion on hold, so she could concentrate on developing her business. “After I moved to the United States in 1983, however, my circumstances forced me to stop painting and focus on raising my family and starting my own business.”
“Now, 25 years later, I have painted over 150 paintings in the last 18 months. I am finally coming out of my shell and sharing my art with the rest of the world. Through my art I have tried to express voiceless feelings and emotions. It is my sincere hope that I will bring inspiration and beauty to those around me by opening the door to this unseen world.”
Tanya Momi’s successful business, Spoil Me Spa and Salon continues to be one of the best salon and spas in her area. It was voted the best salon by The Voice “Best of Mountain View in 2002”. As a long time member of YBN, she has developed the skills to work smarter not harder, leaving her room to cultivate her other passions in life, including art. The gallery has been a great success among her clients and the community.
Congratulations, Tanya Momi for living your passion and following your dreams while running a successful business in the beauty industry!
